How to compare cross-platform campaign reports
Cross-platform reporting brings delivery and website data into a common view. A useful comparison preserves each source’s definitions and aligns dates, time zones and attribution settings before drawing conclusions.
Align the reporting context first
- Select the same campaign scope and account identifiers.
- Match the date range and account time zones.
- Confirm the data refresh time and any reporting delay.
- Check attribution models, conversion definitions and lookback windows.
- Keep missing data distinct from a measured zero.
Clicks, sessions and conversions answer different questions
Ad clicks describe recorded interactions in the advertising platform. GA4 sessions describe recorded activity on the website or app. Repeated clicks, navigation behavior, loading failures and measurement configuration can make the counts differ.
A platform conversion and a GA4 conversion can credit different interactions. Compare the definitions and attribution settings before treating a discrepancy as an error. A shared label alone is not enough to make two metrics equivalent.
A practical reconciliation workflow
Start with one campaign and a small date range. Compare each metric with its source report, note the refresh time, and explain any difference in scope or definition. Expand the comparison only after the source-level values are understood.
Preserve the source beside each figure. Do not add conversions across ad platforms as a unique total unless you have a verified method to remove overlap. Keep a record of adjustments rather than silently changing imported values.
Reporting in AdSync
AdSync brings reporting from connected advertising platforms alongside GA4 analytics. Teams can review delivery and website outcomes in one workflow while retaining the context needed to interpret the numbers.
Ask for a demo using the metrics and accounts you need. This guide explains how to assess reporting; it does not promise identical counts across platforms or an audited attribution model.
